“To the question, what is the meaning of life; all answer with their own biographies.”
– Sandor Marai
What is Biography Work?
Biography Work is a path to self-knowledge. It looks at each human being as three-fold – the body, the soul and the spirit. It is a practice of looking at individual lives objectively, as an observer and gives an insight into the laws of archetypal human development.
Each human being experiences life in his or her own unique way – cultural and social environment, circumstances at birth, encounters with people, relationships, etc. Some periods, people and experiences are easy, happy and satisfying; others are difficult.
Many problems appear in a different light when they are recognized as parts of normal stages of human development. This recognition can be healing.
Doing Biography Work empowers us to take charge of our lives and live in awareness by harvesting learnings from our past, integrating them in our present and co-creating our future, with consciousness.
This work is based in Anthroposophy on Rudolf Steiner’s 7-year developmental phases. Many others have and continue to contribute to the development of Biography Work. It continues to grow and evolve to meet the changing needs of human beings in an ever-changing world.
